Pretty
Petty’s Poem for The Military
Welcome to
this special issue. This is part of “Pretty Petty Poetry”. We want to say
thanks with this poem.
The Prayer of One and All
On nightmares I lay to sleep,
shells besides me give comfort against the darkness and as the moon hides
behind it all I pray my soul to take. I pray for the deaths of my brothers to
float away and for my wife's tears to vanish too. Oh my oh great heavens and to
whatever Lord's may hear my prayer I ask that today you make me a better
soldier.
